The U.S. Consulate in Nuuk, Greenland is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Political Assistant within the Political-Economic section. If you have experience and interest in helping build stronger ties between the United States and Greenland, this could be an ideal job for you.

Kindly note that this position is based in Nuuk, Greenland. The work schedule for this position: full-time, 40 hours per week. 

Position Overview: 

·      Provide advice, research, and reporting on the full range of Greenlandic political, economic, cultural and social issues, analyzing their impact on U.S. priorities and interests and predicting future trends

·      Establish and cultivate high-level contacts across all sectors of Greenlandic society; assisting in identifying participants for academic, professional and private sector exchanges.

·      Support travel by U.S. officials and officers within Greenland and facilitate their relationships with Greenlandic officials and the public.

·      Provide translation and interpretation services to/from Greenlandic, Danish, and English as required.

Qualification Requirements:

·      For University graduates: At least two years of prior work experience in Greenlandic or Danish politics, government, business, journalism, academia, legal practice, or related fields.

·      For High School Graduates: At least five years of prior work experience in Greenlandic or Danish politics, government, business, journalism, academia, legal practice, or related fields.

·      Thorough knowledge of Greenlandic political and economic life, including a detailed understanding of the relationships between leading families, political forces, and local communities.

·      A university degree in political science, business, journalism, history, law, is required OR

a High school degree (with 5 years of relevant work experience)

·      Good working knowledge of English, Greenlandic and Danish at the speaking, reading and writing level.
