The Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) Kalaallit Nunaat is looking for a Research Governance Advisor for the office in Nuuk.
Overview:
Are you passionate about promoting the rights of Indigenous peoples and the role of Indigenous Knowledge in knowledge production? Are you interested in building a bridge between science, Inuit Knowledge, and the needs and priorities of Greenland? Are you ready to advocate internationally for Inuit leadership in Arctic research? Tasks:
As the Research Governance Advisor at ICC, you will work closely with the ICC Team, and report directly to the Executive Director. With the focus on the protection of the rights of Inuit in Kalaallit Nunaat and internationally in Arctic research, the work will include tasks such as:
a. Contributing to the development of ICC’s protocols/positions/policies on Indigenous data sovereignty;
b. Participating in international Arctic research governance spaces including the planning process for the Fifth International Polar Year, the IASC Standing Committee on Indigenous Involvement, etc.;
c. Advocating for the rights of Inuit in Kalaallit Nunaat in relation to research conducted here and promoting ICC’s Circumpolar Inuit Protocols for Ethical and Equitable Engagemement within Kalaallit Nunaat.
It will be an advantage if you have experience working with Inuit Knowledge, Indigenous rights, and/or international Arctic research. The work will primarily take place in Greenlandic and English.
Profile:
We are looking for a motivated applicant holding a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant field.
Salary and Employment Conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are according to qualifications. This position is employed on an individual contract. Housing accommodation is not offered.
Duration of Employment:
ICC has received funding support through the Beyond Arctic Passions project funded by EU Horizons for the employment of a Research Governance Advisor for up to 4 years.
