We are looking to hire seven local guards to provide security for the United States Consulate in Nuuk.
Serve and Protect: Security Guard for U.S. Mission Facilities
The Security Guard (unarmed) prevents unauthorized access to U.S. Government facilities, protects the lives of employees and their dependents, maintains order at all access points, deters criminal attacks against personnel and property, prevents terrorist acts against U.S. assets, and safeguards Government property from damage or theft. Working in coordination with the Regional Security Office and local law enforcement, the Security Guard ensures the safety and security of the Mission through vigilant monitoring, access control, and rapid response to security incidents.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Control facility access by screening visitors, verifying credentials, inspecting vehicles, and
enforcing access control policies
• Monitor and patrol assigned areas using security equipment, surveillance systems, and radio communications
• Respond to emergencies by activating alarms, coordinating with local police, and providing first response assistance
• Maintain security logs and prepare incident reports documenting security activities and unusual occurrences
• Operate security systems including control panels, emergency alarms, public address systems, and communication equipment
Qualifications Required
• Education: High school diploma or local equivalent (secondary education completion)
• Language Skills: Good working knowledge (Level 3) of Danish; limited knowledge (Level 2) of English
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in various weather
conditions; perform vehicle inspections requiring physical mobility; maintain alertness during
entire shift
• Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency; ability to operate security control panels,
emergency alarms, radio communication equipment, and an Automated External Defibrillator
